Council's Economic Development Team

Economic Development is dedicated to fostering sustainable growth, supporting local businesses, celebrating our vibrant and diverse community, and creating job opportunities for local residents.

The Economic Development branch implements the Economic Development Strategy(PDF, 7MB) to guide the economic development of the City.

The team operates with a focus on four core priorities, each contributing to the overall prosperity and vitality of Fairfield City, these being:

1. Supporting Local Small Businesses:

  • We actively support and nurture the growth of local small businesses, recognising them as essential contributors to the community's economic fabric.
  • Initiatives include providing resources, networking opportunities, targeted programs to empower small businesses and events.

2. Developing Fairfield's Major Industries:

  • The team works strategically to enhance and develop key industries within Fairfield, ensuring long-term sustainability and competitiveness.
  • Some of the key industries we actively support includes Food and Beverage, and Manufacturing, Industrial and Transport.

3. Creating a Visitor Economy:

  • We are committed to establishing Fairfield as a destination, attracting visitors through various initiatives and events.
  • Our focus includes promoting local attractions, a night-time economy, cultural experiences, and tourism-related activities to stimulate economic growth and community engagement.

4. Creating Vibrant Precincts:

  • Our focus includes Prairiewood, Fairfield Showground, Cecil Park, Smithfield-Wetherill Park Industrial Estate, and Fairfield City Centre.
